Marriage is meant to be a union with God, where couples can show God’s love to each other and grow together. However, this ideal is not always reached. About ninety percent of people get married, but divorce rates are high—between 38 and 50 percent for first marriages, and 44 to 65 percent for second marriages. Only about 20 percent of marriages are truly happy and fulfilling. Christian counsellors are called to help couples facing serious problems by working with them to find solutions. For couples with less serious issues, marriage enrichment strategies can help improve their satisfaction.
